The Black Christ and Other Poems
New York: Harper & Brothers, 1929. Charles Cullen. Hardcover. First edition of this collection by respected Harlem Renaissance poet Countee Cullen. Dust jacket, with illustration by Charles Cullen is in a protective mylar sleeve due to nymerous issues, the most significant being that half the spine is missing. The front also has pieces missing, one at the top edge and one at the bottom. There is a piece of cellophane tape in the middle of the half title page and there are a few small pencil notes in the text. The previous owner liked to note dates when they read the title poem. Blue cloth boards are rubbed at the bottom and gold paste down label is quite tarnished. A decent copy of a great book. Good / Acceptable. Item #15064
